From Byblos to Beirut

Jeita Cave
Tucked in the Nahr el-Kelb valley, twenty kilometres from Beirut, the Jeita cave became a national treasure when it was a finalist in the New 7 Wonders of Nature competition in 2011. This is a definite must-see. Inhabited in prehistorical times, the two caves were only discovered much later, the lower cave in 1836 and the upper cave in 1958. Its remarkable state of preservation reveals some extraordinary chambers (up to 120 m in height) lined with stalactites that are equally breathtaking.
