In late 19th century, European immigrants planted Zinfandel here, and some survived Prohibition. To highlight their heritage, the wineries of Paso Robles hold an annual celebration in honour of their special grape, organising a 3-day Zinfandel Festival usually in March. Over 50 wineries showcase their wines, and the local restaurants serve food. www.pasowine.com
